My journey started in Amsterdam - The Netherlands, where I was born. I have also lived in Surinam and Ireland but most of my life in the UK since 1977.
Started my career in London, in the textiles industry and stayed in that sector for 28 years. I experienced the whole supply chain and was lucky enough to have sat on executive boards, helping shape and direct companies and more specifically the sales, marketing and design functions.
In 2003 I discovered personal development, NLP and alternative health. I became a qualified Kinesiologist with a vision to deliver wellness at work. I escaped employment on independence day 4th July 2005. It was that year when the company name Staying Alive was born. I launched the business properly at the start of the recession in 2007 and after some early success this fizzled out quickly with most organisations saying that this was a luxury they couldn't afford. That was an interesting response! 🥴
I had to re-think my strategy and was lucky enough to be introduced to an e-learning company in 2008 who provided an online learning method for organisations and their employees. I freelanced for about 18 months and this gave me the appetite to follow a vision I've had since I was younger and that was to get involved in the digital world.
I decided at the end of 2012 that I wanted to specialise in training companies and individuals how to leverage LinkedIn, as this was closer to my passion of helping small organisations succeed. In the end I fulfilled this for 5 years and produced my own LinkedIn e-learning course on Udemy in the process.
During that time I also didn't want to be 100% reliant on a platform (LinkedIn) that was owned by someone else. I had freelanced for another e-learning company who used video and following that I honed my craft for creating animation videos to help organisations, of any size, make their advertising campaign, explainer video or communications strategy come alive!
I know that video animation is massively important and still rarely used by businesses to educate their employees, buyers and investors.
I started my own podcast in 2016, 'Share Your Story', interviewing small business owners with the purpose of inspiring future or current business owners.
